Canola
Insurance is now available in Corson and Perkins counties in South Dakota
Multi-Peril Crop Insurance will be available in 2025 for Canola in Corson and Perkins counties in South Dakota. YP, RP, RP-HPE, SCO and ECO coverages will be added for all types and practices. This will not be automatically added to individual policies. An application form must be completed with added crop, county, coverage, etc. and signed by the sales closing deadline, March 15th 2025.

Soybeans
Insurance is now available in Ziebach and Haakon counties in South Dakota
YP, RP, RP-HPE, SCO & ECO coverage will be offered for soybeans in Haakon and Ziebach counties in South Dakota for the 2025 crop year. Soybeans will not be automatically added to your MPCI policy. You must complete an application adding the crop, county, coverage, etc. along with a signature before the March 15th, 2025 sales closing deadline.

Flax now has the option of Revenue Price (RP)
New Breaking Statement
A new breaking statement has been added for 2025 requiring additional documentation to prove soil meets insurability criteria:
The policyholder must provide documentation that 75% or more of the new breaking acreage is composed of soil types defined as Capability Class I, II, III, or IV as determined by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Web Soil Survey.
New breaking and native sod as defined in the Basic Provisions in not insurable for the initial year of breakout unless the criteria has been met.
